Jimbocho South floor MVP Award

Ziezo dit is mijn beker mij overhandigd door JAC, mijn werkgever, voor mijn goede prestaties in de maand mei. We zijn er toch een beetje trots op. Deze beker is voor de Floor MVP (most valuable person on the floor) en wordt elke maand door iemand anders gewonnen. Vorige maand mocht ik als eerste buitenlander ooit dit ontvangen en ik kreeg er zowaar nog een klein envelopke bij waar we met heel het team mee zijn gaan drinken. Deze award kwam echt wel op tijd net nu ze onze internationale divisie zullen restructuren en we naar Japanse teams moeten verhuizen. De managers van die Japanse teams kunnen nl. weigeren een gaijin (buitenlander) te nemen in hun team of ze kunnen kiezen welke gaijin. Daarbovenop worden de werknemers die minder gepresteerd hebben op Japanse wijze verzocht om misschien ander werk te zoeken. Mijn beker behoed me daar dus alvast voor. Het is wel nog spannend afwachten in welk team we zullen terecht komen...

Another man tired of life

Sunday in Akihabara, an always crowded electronics and manga mekka, a man drove his car into a crowd of pedestrians, stepped out of the car and then started stabbing people randomly. The man said afterwards he was tired of life.

A New Baby is born

..Her name is Ayano and she is the wonderful daughter of Shin and Yoshiko. The first week after they returned from 9 years living and working in the Netherlands, we met Shin by coincidence on the beach in Miura. He happened to be a windsurfer, just like Piet and the two became good friends and surfing buddies.
As is customary in Japan, Yoshiko is staying with her parents for the first few months after giving birth. This custom sounded a bit strange to me at first, but I guess you can use some professional help from mom and dad in the beginning.
Yoshiko speaks Dutch very well, so we hope we can learn this new girl some Dutch too!
